8 Mantras for Daily Peace

Sometimes I feel like I’m living 3 full lives when I’m dealing with work, family, friends and career. In the past, I’ve often been overwhelmed at the number of different things I’m tasked with everyday. However, the one thing that has helped me through it all, is finding inner peace. The world is constantly moving, but if I’m standing still mentally, it helps me focus on the things that are important and filter out the distractions.

For me, I turn to these mantras to keep my peace amidst the hustle and bustle.

#1 BREATHE…BREATH….BREATHE

Everything will be a lot better if we first take a moment to just breathe. In addition to the health benefits, I love the immediate calmness that takes over my body when I take deep breaths before I make a decision or form a response to what is going around me.

#2 PERFECTION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HAPPINESS

So many people are obsessed with this notion of being “perfect”. As I recently shared in Plus Model Magazine, we need to recognize that perfection is a fiction. Instead, focus on creating the reality you want for yourself. Guess what? Being perfect has no bearing on you being happy or fulfilled.

#3 I CHOOSE TO HAVE PEACE

In life, we often like to blame our circumstances or the people around us to validate why we feel the way that we feel. If that’s true, then we are essentially admitting that we are NOT in control of how we think, act, and feel. So it comes down to this very simple question: Do you choose to be peaceful or allow yourself to be controlled by the world around you?

#4 DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

I love journaling, coloring, watching movies, spending time with animals, enjoying time with my hubby, networking, public speaking, working out, traveling, listening to music, shopping and so much more. Every day it is an opportunity to do something I love. It is a lot easier to be peaceful if you carve out daily ME time!

#5 STOP INDULGING IN COMPLAINING & MOANING

Isn’t so easy to complain about what is “wrong” with life? From getting cold coffee, having arguments with loved ones, not being happy with work situations, or other uncomfortable moments in life, the list goes on and on. But, there are also many moments in our lives to celebrate and appreciate. Remember this the next time people around you are about to start a complaining and moaning session, and respectfully excuse yourself.

#6 YOU CAN NEVER LAUGH ENOUGH

I love to laugh. Some people even like to say they know me by my laugh 😉 The more I laugh, the more I relax and remember to get so caught up with the seriousness of life. To have peace comes lots and lots of laughter.

#7 EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN

The Virgo in me LOVES clarity in life. But, we cannot expect to know everything that is going to happen. This is okay. Trying to control others is not possible and an easy way to get easily frustrated. So, we must be okay with the fact that there are some things we will not know or anticipate. Sometimes, the path of least resistance is the path worth taking even if it’s not your ideal path.

#8 THE WORLD IS FULL OF ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES

When we were little, we used to say we wanted to do 25 different careers. Somewhere along the way, that begins to change and we only view ourselves doing one thing. What happened to us? We are all multifaceted people so we should always remember that we can do many different things at any stage of our lives. The point is to keep dreaming big

Currently, I am dealing with real estate madness on top everything else going on. Now more than ever, I have needed the ability to find peace in my daily routine. I hope you find these mantras as helpful and useful as I have found them to be!

Wishing You Peace & Relaxation!

A Buffy, Daria and Beyonce reference! In all seriousness, it's good advice. Me time is important. Everyone needs that break.
