Curvy Couture Lace Shine T-Shirt Bra – Bombshell Nude

How do you feel about Valentine’s Day? Personally, I have found the day to be unpredictable. Growing up, I rarely received Valentine’s gifts from classmates (which kind of sucked). When I met my boo at Penn State, I not only found the love of my life, but I finally had someone to celebrate holidays like Valentine’s Day with. Over the years, this day has been exciting, calm, busy, uneventful, or romantic.

Whether you have a partner or not, there are several things you can do to make the most of the day no matter what!

#1 Buy Sexy Lingerie

Curvy Couture Tulip Lace Push Up – Chocolat Nude

I am a firm believer that all holidays should be celebrated by doing something for yourself and others. Whether it is taking time to relax, a yoga class, a workout session, or a moment to buy something you love. On the day of love, why wouldn’t you want to buy something that you adore? Save 20% off your next Curvy Couture order with discount code: Dressing20

#2 Read Something Good

Have you seen the Dressing Room 8 Recommendations?

Reading is good for your mind, body, and soul. When you read, you expand your knowledge and gain insight on the world and yourself. Take some time today to read something that truly moves you.

#3 Have Fun

Curvy Couture Lace Shine T-Shirt Bra – Bombshell Nude

It only makes sense to have some fun today. Today, I plan to do the following:

  1. Nap for at least an hour (Sleep is an activity for me)
  2. Listen and dance to music
  3. Connect with folks on social media
  4. Eat something yummy
  5. Watch a scary movie

#4 Practice Self-Care

Sistas On Fire IRL Chat w/ Dr. Marsie Ross

Just last night, I had an incredible chat with Dr. Marsie Ross for the Sistas On Fire IRL web series. If you aren’t implementing a daily practice of self-care then you will feel lost. Today, can you do something for your self-care?

5 Ways Any Woman Can Be More Organized Working from Home

Who doesn’t dream of working from home? No traffic, overflowing coffee pot and pajamas all day long. As with anything, there’s always a hitch. How do you balance home-work life without getting behind?

Jobscan Banner

Get yourself together by organizing your day to maximize your productivity without falling behind is key.

1) Time Block Your Day

Forget multitasking, it doesn’t work. But just because multitasking is a bust doesn’t mean you’re without options! Time blocking your day in 30-60-minute increments is your new recipe for success. Plan your day to help focus your efforts for higher levels of productivity. You’ll want to schedule everything: checking emails, social media time (if necessary), work, phone calls (work or personal), cooking, breaks and cleaning the office and home.

Prioritizing your day right: Use your peak hours for work (e.g., 7-9am) then take a half hour break before you tackle the dishes!

Try It Free

2) Dedicated Workspace

Work and home life are two separate hats that are united by one common denominator – you. Sure, you are home, but you’ll need a space in which to conduct your business. This doesn’t have to be an office – especially if you have young kids. All you need is a small nook for your laptop and accessories. Like the corner of your dining room table for watching the kids. Plus, if you’ve got moveable office space, you can pack it away easily, just be sure to have a dedicated bag to contain your workspace.

If you’re fortunate enough to have a special space within your home – a room or a desk within the den – make certain you surround yourself with a clean, decluttered and inspiring area that has everything you need. Organized chaos is a myth, so bust it and keep your space tidy with office bookshelves, for less mental clutter.

Your office space is where you work, make sure the rest of the family knows this too. And that they have their own dedicated areas for play, so never the two shall meet!

3) To-Do List

How else can you time block your day without a clear picture of what’s on your daily docket? It’s best to spend a couple of minutes before bed deciding what needs to be done – chores, kids, work, miscellaneous – so you can manage your time wisely!

4) Schedule Breaks

You’re a one-woman show, even so, you’ll still need your sanctioned breaks! There’s no award for slaving your day away at the expense of your sanity. So, take a break and have a coffee, color, read or stretch your legs before you get back to the daily grind.

5) Plan for Distractions

It’s inevitable, something will pop up when you’re working – a tearful kid, an unexpected phone call – so plan for it. Note the time of the distraction and use that half an hour in reserve for the work intrusion. Then get back to what you were doing. That means when you’re planning your day, always leave a half hour to spare.

Work from Home like a Pro

We all wish we could work from home but what you don’t take into account is how distracting it is! It’s almost like doubling your workload by heaping in chores as well! Make your life easier by organizing your days so you can achieve everything on your to-do list!

Dancing with Dia & Co

How Do You Know if You Like an Outfit?

Personally, I LOVE TO DANCE. If I can comfortably dance and move my body in an outfit then I am ready to hit the town. Dia & Co recently sent me a box for the holidays and I can’t wait to show you how I felt in the shorts and dresses. Take a look…

Wearing shorts and pants is USUALLY a tiring notion. Except, when my Dia & Co stylist Ashby Vose (a previous guest on my radio show Our Voices at 90.3 WHPC) sends me shorts that ACTUALLY fit me. In fact, I loved how the shorts fit so much, I started to dance and I couldn’t stop. How cool is that?

With my high-waisted pear shape, I am MOST confident and comfortable in a dress. Do, I love every dress that I try on? Sadly, no. BUT…Dia & Co ABSOLUTELY hit the nail on the head with these three dresses. Wouldn’t you agree?

How to Find the Best Lingerie for Your Body Type

2

This post contains affiliate links. That means if you click on a link and buy something, Dressing Room 8 will earn a small commission from the advertiser at no additional cost to you.

The importance of the right undergarments can never be overstated. Not only does the right lingerie make a woman feel sexy, sensual, powerful, but there are also practical reasons behind this need for proper underwear. If you’ve ever even caught a glimpse of any makeover show, you will have known that the stylists always place additional emphasis on lingerie for one simple reason – the clothes we wear over that lingerie. You can put on the most dazzling dress in the world, one that should do all your glorious curves proper justice, but the dress will still fail you if you resort to undergarments that let you down.

Nest Bedding Inc

In this wonderfully diverse world, we live in, especially in a world in which the body positivity movement is gaining momentum, brands need to be more and more aware that each woman is different. That’s the reason we have defined all the different body types; so that each woman of every size and shape could find the perfect lingerie that will do all of the above-mentioned things for her – support her literally and figuratively.

So, join us on this journey and let’s discover the all the right fabrics, seams and cuts, so that every woman out there can feel sexy, powerful and look absolutely stunning, with clothes or without them.

The Hourglass Gal

The woman who has this kind of figure is one lucky gal, as this is one of the most coveted and admired figures of all. Narrow waist, wider thighs and usually an admirable bust size are what define this type of figure. Just look at queen Beyoncé and Sofía Vergara and you’ll know what we’re talking about. Now, as far as regular lingerie goes – panties and bras, sometimes these curvy gals can find themselves in a bit of a pickle. While thongs and V-cut panties are easy to find, if you have wider hips and these types of panties tend to cut into your skin and create an unflattering line, seamless high-leg panty is definitely the way to go.

Now, hunting for proper support for the ‘girls’ can be a little frustrating. Every woman with a larger bust knows this. There are very few brands that cater to their needs – it usually comes down to simple unpadded wired bras in black, white and beige. How is a woman supposed to feel sexy in those? Luckily, there are a handful of brands that do cater to these needs and produce amazing and sexy bras that make one feel confident, supported and sexy, so let’s just hope the rest of the industry will follow suit. Now, as for other items that go under the ‘lingerie’ definition, a corset is definitely a must-have as it emphasizes and narrows the waist, as well as garter belts and teddies.

The Triangle

Women like the stunning JLo have been blessed with the triangle body type, a type probably as equally coveted as the hourglass. The hips are usually wider than the shoulders and this is something that leaves a woman plenty of room to play with lingerie. If you want to emphasize that booty and those amazing hips a teddy, matching set, thong, brassiere or v-cut panties will definitely do that for you. However, if you’re looking for a way to visually balance your figure, a bustier, push up bras or a lacey babydoll will definitely do the trick.

Now, if you really want to pull out the big guns you’ll resort to a corset, especially if your bust size is on the smaller side. By pushing the girls up with the corset, you’ll create the perfect balance between the hips and the upper body, not to mention that you will look like an absolute bombshell. Now, it’s important to keep in mind that all body types come in different sizes, so whatever your body type is, always keep your size in mind and never try to squeeze into garments that are way too small. The body positivity movement is all about loving your body and doing it justice, and there are amazing plus size lingerie choices now, so never shy away from browsing through that section. It’s all about finding the best fit for your body type.

NEW IN: Superboost Lace Collection | Feel It With Lavinia

The Rectangle

Otherwise known as the athletic type, a rectangle shaped woman is similar to the hourglass, although without a prominent waist. The bust size can vary, but as the bra issue has been covered in the hourglass section there is no need to go over that again. Now, as far as looking and feeling sexy, and that includes creating an illusion of a smaller waist, fitted lace camisoles and bustiers are the perfect weapons.

Now, the proper items from the panty family can also help here. For instance, frills and ruffles – particularly those made from lace will add volume to the hips and create a visually smaller waistline. Avoid silk and satin as they will stick to you and definitely won’t do your body the justice it deserves.

The Juicy Apple

Amy Schumer is a perfect example of the apple body type. Are you aware of other celebrities who celebrate their apple shape? When it comes to bringing out the best – the booty and the chest – it’s pretty simple – the bra should be supportive and made of a sexy fabric such as lace, but also be a tad padded for support. Now, shapewear is the absolute best way to accentuate the booty but also draw attention away from the belly area, which is prominent with apple shapes.

Now, when there are times you don’t feel like being constricted by shapewear – although you won’t be if you choose the right size – there is always the super sexy and flattering chemise to bring balance to your silhouette. As for panties, follow Ashley Graham’s advice – always go just under the bellybutton so as to tuck in the lower belly, and go for sturdy but seamless panties that won’t cut into the skin.

How To Rock Casual Fridays

You’ve made it to the end of the week and the weekend is right around the corner. But when you open your closet doors Friday morning, you’re faced with the same old sartorial dilemma: it’s casual Friday, what am I going to wear? While casual Friday’s purpose in life is to give you a reprieve from traditional office wear, its vague dressing guidelines can make you wonder what’s really appropriate.

Not sure? Overdress.

Casual has different meanings for everyone. When in doubt about how casual you can go, it’s a good rule of thumb to overdress rather than underdress.  While it’s tempting to be uber casual and comfortable, you’re still in a professional environment and should focus on making a good impression on your coworkers and managers. You want a look that still portrays a polished image while still having a little fun. In the warmer months, that means no shorts and definitely no flip-flops. Instead, choose a smart, but playful outfit, like Ice Design casual dresses and ankle strap sandals or wedges.

It’s time for jeans!

If your office allows, a must-have for casual Fridays is a great pair of jeans. A pair of dark wash jeans in a great cut can be dressed up or down and can make you the style star of the office. Pair them with a tailored jacket and a feminine top and you’re ready to go! Don’t forget to the leave the ripped denim at home though.

Top it off

Wondering what to wear on top? You can go for unique colors and patterns on casual Friday as long as you keep it professional. Skip on tank tops or camisoles (unless they are layering pieces) or anything low cut or sheer. Choose a graphic tee for a hint of fun under a traditionally professional piece like a structured blazer.

Rock your accessories

Adding a statement necklace or ring to your casual Friday outfit is a great way to inject your personality. This is the time to be bold with your necklace and add a pop of color. Don’t be afraid to mix your metals or layer multiple necklaces together. If you choose rings, find a coordinating set and add them to multiple fingers for a glam look. Or style your hair in a sleek pony and add a gorgeous pair of statement earrings.

One of the great things about casual Fridays it the opportunity to have fun with your wardrobe choices. Make this Friday’s outfit different from anything else you wear during the week to keep things interesting and show your unique sense of style.

The Seven Step Wardrobe Detox Guide For More Mindful Fashion

We’re dangerously close to 2019, and with so many resolutions just waiting to happen, it’s not at all a bad idea to actually enter the New Year with certain things crossed off the extensive list. For example, decluttering your wardrobe and finding more ethical solutions to your existing pieces is an excellent way to “purge” your style just before the holidays!

Examine your current fashion choices

If you sneak a peek into your wardrobe, what do you see? A variety of haute couture pieces? Mostly second-hand items or those you’ve inherited from your siblings and parents? A mix of fancy and casual? Whatever it may be, your style choices reflect so much more than their primary purpose. They also say so much about you as a person, and they reflect your values to a great extent.

If you’re big on cruelty-free beauty, wouldn’t you like to choose brands and products that offer fair wages and healthy labor conditions to their workers? The same goes for your ethically-made and sustainable garments that are not merely stylish, but care for our lovely blue dot.

Take it all out

Now that you’ve had some time to think about what fashion means to you and how it represents you, move on to the decluttering phase. It might not be the happiest of all stages, but it’s necessary to truly detox your shelves!

Turn the one huge pile of style into several smaller bunches of what you consider must-haves, maybes, and the ones you should certainly give away or sell. Ask your spouse or your best friend who knows your style preferences for some second opinions if you can’t let go of certain garments.

Start from the basics

Now that you’re left with half of your wardrobe, it’s time to resupply those essentials. When you’re shopping for underwear, sleeping items, and your socks, consider buying from vendors who focus on quality and durability. For example, when you’re looking for women’s socks and undergarments, choose fabrics such as bamboo and cotton that are breathable, skin-friendly, and will last for a long time.

Also, focus on colors that are practical and that will fit your general style, since wearing black panties with white skirts isn’t the best possible option for a sophisticated look. Finally, size does matter when it comes to your underwear, so get rid of all bras that don’t fit – we’re all guilty for sticking with an uncomfortable bra for too long.

Fashion, Look Of the Day, Fall shoes, Fall Fashion,

Expand your horizons

In addition to donating a portion of your clothes, you can also use websites such as StyleForIt to pass on your loved wearables to other ladies in search for wardrobe updates. It’s a win-win, as you’ll be able to find a new home for some of the items you’re no longer in love with, and discover new (or used) ones that will fit your style perfectly.

Other than that, you can support your local economy and look for a tailor that can make unique pieces according to your specific desires. Not only will you help a local business develop, but you’ll enrich your style with things that truly resonate with your personality!

Repurpose and reuse

Having a hard time saying goodbye to some of your older garments? Well, if they have emotional value and they’re still in good condition, you can repurpose them on your own, or with the help of your tailor. Whether your clothes are too big, small, or damaged, you can upcycle a wide array of garments as your own little DIY project!

From decoupage shoes, using lace to lengthen a dress, all the way to turning a scarf into a wrap skirt, there’s so much you can do with things you love if you’re not prepared to replace them with a new item on the list. In fact, upcycling and reusing is in the spirit of mindful fashion!

Shop Priceless Free Gift + Black Friday Sale

Thrift stores as your go-to

In addition to online shopping, used clothes often find their home in thrift and second-hand stores. It’s a perfect shopping escapade for those who still love the adventure of shopping offline, and you can meet plenty of interesting people who can point you to the most sustainable brands and the most unique stores in your neighborhood.

Then again, you can blend the digital with the offline: stay informed on social media when there’s a swap organized in your vicinity, so that you can get ready in time.

sock panda signup

Stick to what you love

Finally, even if you cut your wardrobe in half, declutter perfectly, and find trusty vendors, you need to make sure that the new changes in your style are still in accordance with what makes you so unique and beautiful. Explore new cuts and colors, by all means, but always make sure to opt for things that you know will flatter your figure and that you know will have a purpose in your wardrobe.

What’s the point of getting a pair of transparent boots if you’re more into eco-suede, or getting a ball gown if you never ever attend events that require such a dress-code (and you secretly prefer simple maxi dresses instead)? The bottom line is, in addition to sticking to your values, make sure to use your fashion budget on items that will make you happy!

6 Easy Ways for Women to Rise Together

2

This post contains affiliate links. That means if you click on a link and buy something, Dressing Room 8 will earn a small commission from the advertiser at no additional cost to you.

“The most effective way to do it, is to do it.”

— Amelia Earhart

Women are stronger together. When we can rise together, we can do anything. This is not only a fact but the theme of the 5th Annual Women On The Rise Forum & Expo. Marsha Guerrier created this 2-day spectacular event for Women Entrepreneurs, Consultants, Coaches, Authors, Career Professional, and Product Makers. The all-access experience included keynotes, panel discussions, masterclasses, celebrity fireside chat, swag bag, small business shops, and a Friday Night Mixer. As one of the facilitators at the event, we were tasked to provide useful strategies, and actionable steps to help women Rise and take their career or business to the next level.

At the conference, I was able to speak on the power of storytelling, the value of leveraging the media for your business, and my personal story of how I became an entrepreneur

After listening to the other speakers and thought leaders at the 5th Annual Women On The Rise Forum & Expo, I was able to reflect on the idea of sisterhood and how women can truly rise together. Let’s discuss it!

#1 Knowledge

It is incredible how much is going on at the same time each day. Sometimes, it can even feel a bit overwhelming.  Guess what? That is fine. According to Oprah, “You can have it all. Just not all at once.” How do you manage what is most important? You must be strategic and purposeful with your life and the decisions you make. If it is important for you to celebrate sisterhood in your life and in your career, then you make a point to seek out events and opportunities that promote women like the 5th Annual Women On The Rise Forum & Expo. Wouldn’t you agree?

#2 Networking

Networking is not something you need to do. It is something you must embrace for personal and professional development and growth. I like to say, “Your net worth is your network.” Networking with women who inspire and motivate you to be the best version of yourself is something we can all achieve. It creates an atmosphere of a sisterhood of empowerment in your home, at work, and everywhere in between.

#3 Asking for Help

If you can read minds, please comment below. I would love to speak with you. Why? Because, most people barely have a handle on what they are thinking, much less anyone else. Women who work together are literally rising together. Making a point to reach out to women to help you with your website, social media creative, speaking engagement, or well being is one of the best ways to put money and support in our community to build unbreakable bonds.

#4 Showing Up

Vera Moore, Founder of Vera Moore Cosmetics, was one of the raved about speakers at the 5th Annual Women On The Rise Forum & Expo because she is a living legend to so many of us. She asked, us to think about what showing up really means.  This is a question we must ask ourselves to determine if we are showing up when it matters most. When we choose to support someone for celebrity instead of substance or refuse to see the value in investing in ourselves, are we even showing up for ourselves? Sisterhood only works if you actively empower yourself first. Showing up for you will enable you to show up for other women. If you haven’t asked yourself this question recently, I encourage you to reflect on how you are showing up for yourself for your personal and professional goals this month?

#5 Build Your Tribe

One of the best ways for you to find your tribe is for you to attend events like 5th Annual Women On The Rise Forum & Expo. Some of the most meaningful women I have met in my life took place at a networking event. There is something truly special about being in a place with like-minded women gathered to share their vulnerabilities, insights, wisdom, and desire authentic stories. After the 5th Annual Women On The Rise Forum & Expo, I left with a feeling of rejuvenation and excitement to build relationships with women thought leaders, apply new lessons learned for my own business, and move forward with a feeling that I have a system of support cheering me on to keep moving forward.

Tea of the month made simple

#6 Give Back

Great leaders are ones that build other leaders along the way. The work that I do for my business and the media will make the biggest impact if I teach others how they can do the same. Working with Long Island Girl Talk to teach young girls how to create their own television show is one of the ways I am teaching young women the power of being a content creator. This is how we show the next generation what sisterhood is all about!

5 Tips When Traveling in a Camper Trailer

0

This post contains affiliate links. That means if you click on a link and buy something, Dressing Room 8 will earn a small commission from the advertiser at no additional cost to you.

Hitting the road in a camper trailer is one of the most comfortable ways to have an outdoor adventure. Unlike a tent, which can lack a little luxury, and an RV, which often can’t travel off the beaten path, camper trailers are meant to go just about wherever your travels take you. If your vehicle can go there, so can your camper.

If you’re new to the world of camper trailer exploration, read on. Here are some tips to help you set yourself for safe and happy camping.

#1 Start Slow

Unless you’re a veteran at towing heavy loads with your vehicle’s, take your time acclimatizing yourself to lugging around your camper trailer. The trailer will add quite a bit of weight and it will affect how quickly you can start and stop. Leave double the amount of space between you and the vehicle ahead of you since it will take longer to slow down. Also, don’t race off the starting line. This will strain your vehicle as well as your trailer. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare: slow and steady!

#2 Practice Backing Up

Here’s another practical (and oh so important) driving tip. Pick an empty parking lot, hook up your camper trailer and practice, practice, practice reversing! Steer from the bottom of the wheel and you’ll be less likely to overcompensate. Also, when possible, back up toward the vehicle’s driver side since it is easier to see behind you from this vantage point. If you are traveling with a group, elect someone to help you perfect your reversing skills. Agree to hand signals for clear communication.

#3 Dirty Tank First

Depending on the make and model of your camper trailer, you may or may not have to deal with water or sewage tanks. If your camper trailer has these features, dump the dirtiest (black water) tank first, since the leftover soapy water from the gray tank can help cleanse the hose.

#4 Double Check

Don’t take for granted that your tires, safety chains, lights, and brakes are all in working order — especially if you’ve bought your camper trailer second hand. After all, you never know what quirks and ticks your camper trailer has until you get it to know it, and that is going to take time and travel. Even the best camper trailers that are brand new get low tire pressure. And, most of all, even the most diligent people make mistakes. You  may think you attached your safety chains or brake lights, but did you? It only takes a few seconds to check again, and it could be the difference between a serious accident and arriving safely at your destination.

#5 Optimize Your Storage

Every nook and cranny of your camper trailer can be used for storage, and the storage areas can be packed for maximum efficiency. Here are some pro-tips:

  • Pack food that does not need to be refrigerated in the microwave. Bread is a prime pick for this sweet spot since the microwave will keep the soft loaves from getting squished.
  • Pack your dishes and pans with your clean towels to keep them from banging around and/or breaking.
