Everyday we are innudated with news about the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and it’s okay if you are feeling scared, upset, or even panicked by the whole situation. We seem to be living in a whole new world…
Whether the pandemic is getting to you or not, social distancing is now a reality for so many of us across the world. So let’s get real about what it is and how to effectively do it without losing our heads!
What is Social Distancing?
As shared in The Atlantic, it’s “a term that epidemiologists are using to refer to a conscious effort to reduce close contact between people and hopefully stymie community transmission of the virus.”
Why is Social Distancing Important?
According to the World Health Organization, we should “maintain at least 1 metre (3 feet) distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. When someone coughs or sneezes they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.” The less people you are around, the less likely you will be exposed to the disease.
